Over the past 6 months we've seen normal life flipped on its head as we navigate through the effects of covid-19. Those that were and continue to be most heavily impacted have been forced to re-define the way they operate. With events and event businesses in this category, we are over the moon to see the 15th Annual BL Blast off go ahead and of course, be back onboard sponsoring for the 10th year in a row.
For the first time in event history, the surf competition for kids aged 14 and under is a global online video challenge! Barton Lynch was working hard to have the event live as normal between Sydney's Avalon and Palm Beach but with restriction on the beach and travel bans in place, it was not looking feasible. So, the first virtual BL Blast off was born.
Having surfing categorised as exercise means that by the time the event launched on the 15th September 2020, grommets from around the globe were allowed in the water and submitting videos. Prizes range from weekly awards to overall best boy and girl in each division, most 'stoke', best manoeuvres, best wipe out and inter alia are judged by some of the world's best surfers.
